Scott & White Healthcare – Round Rock welcomes new chief medical officer

C.M. (Bud) Chumbley, M.D., MBA, has been named chief medical officer of the Scott & White Healthcare – Round Rock region.  The current chief medical officer, Dudley Baker, M.D., who has been with Scott & White for over 39 years, will be retiring from this chief medical officer position.  Dr. Chumbley will join Scott & White – Round Rock on April 1 from ProHealth Care Medical Associates clinics in southeastern Wisconsin where he has served as president and CEO since January 2008.

“Dr. Chumbley brings with him a very rich and diverse background with integrated healthcare delivery systems that will serve Scott & White – Round Rock and the community as we continue to grow in the region,” said Robert Pryor, M.D. chief medical officer of Scott & White Healthcare based in Temple.  “His experience matches the Scott & White vision for delivering medical care at the highest level.”

In his position at Scott & White – Round Rock, Dr. Chumbley will be responsible for overseeing clinic operations and medical staff involvement in the hospital, compliance with regulatory requirements and quality and patient safety.  He will have three medical directors that report to him who are responsible for three geographic regions.  The chief of the medical staff for Scott & White Hospital – Round Rock will also be an integral part of his duties and responsibilities.

Since 1989, Dr. Chumbley was president and CEO of Medical Associates Health Centers, which was acquired by ProHealth Care in January 2008, and is a successor organization to ProHealth.  Dr. Chumbley is chair of the Wisconsin Collaborative for Healthcare Quality Board and chairs the Wisconsin Medical Society Holdings Board, the for-profit arm of the Wisconsin Medical Society.  He is also the chair of the program planning committee and president-elect of the steering committee of the Group Practice Improvement Network.  Dr. Chumbley also serves on the Midwest Regional Policy Board of the American Hospital Association.

Dr. Chumbley received his medical degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia.  After completing his residency in obstetrics and gynecology, also at the University of Missouri, he received additional training in perinatology at the University of Cincinnati.  He received his master’s in business administration in 1993 from the J.L. Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
