Scott & White Healthcare – Round Rock has opened an occupational and environmental medicine clinic located at 425 University Blvd., Suite 335, in Round Rock. The clinic provides employers with services that include work-related injuries, regulatory and surveillance exams.
Patients who will be seen at the new clinic are referred by their employer.
“Every year, people break bones, strain their back and injure their hands in work-related accidents,” said Jerald L. Head, M.D., occupational medicine physician at Scott &White – Round Rock. “In occupational medicine, we analyze the patient’s limitations resulting from work-related injury and develop an individualized treatment plan to help restore function. The goal is to help prevent a back injury, for example, from becoming a bigger problem down the road, but also to return injured workers to full functionality as soon as possible.”
Healthcare providers in the field of occupational medicine practice medicine as it relates to the workplace, both in the prevention of work related injuries and the evaluation and treatment of the injuries when they occur.
“We’re also available to assist employers who are working to make improvements for safety,” said Dr. Head.
