Clinic slated to open Fall 2011
Scott & White Healthcare officials have finalized an agreement with Development 2000 to open a new clinic in Leander, located one block north of Crystal Falls Parkway on U.S. Hwy 183. The 12,000+-square foot clinic will start with two medical providers and have the capacity for six. A groundbreaking is expected later this Spring with the clinic opening in the Fall.
Scott & White signed the agreement with Development 2000 out of Austin to build and lease the space, which sits on a two-acre lot.
“By building a clinic in Leander, we’re responding to an unmet need in this community for primary care services including physical therapy,” said C.M. “Bud” Chumbley, chief medical officer for Scott & White Healthcare – Round Rock. “A Leander location will offer more convenient care in the right place at the right time for patients coming in from outlying communities like Liberty Hill.”
Dr. Chumbley went on to say that “Leander’s steady growth was a major factor in the decision to build this clinic. Additionally, many of our Cedar Park clinic patients reside in Leander so we want to meet their medical needs closer to home.”
Scott & White Healthcare’s presence in Williamson County includes its Round Rock hospital and regional clinics which have grown to include over 120 primary care physicians and specialists practicing throughout 10 regional clinics serving residents of Cedar Park, Pflugerville, Taylor, Hutto, Georgetown and Round Rock. Scott & White’s commitment to Williamson County most recently included a finalized partnership with Johns Community Hospital in Taylor, now Scott & White Hospital – Taylor. Scott & White also recently expanded its services to include a relocation of 10 specialties to a nearby medical office building at 425 University Boulevard in Round Rock including an After Hours Clinic.
“This is an exciting opportunity for Scott & White to enhance its services to the residents of western Williamson County,” Colleen Sundquist, administrator for Scott & White’s Round Rock region clinics. “And if diagnostic, emergency or higher-level care is required, our Round Rock Hospital is just 16 miles away.”
Benjamin “Lee” Smith, M.D., family practice physician at Scott & White’s Cedar Park Clinic, will serve as medical director for the new Leander Clinic.
