School bus accident resulting in patients being sent to Scott & White Healthcare

TEMPLE, Texas – (January 17, 2012) A  school bus rollover has occurred in the Little River / Academy area on Highway 93. Scott & White Hospital – Temple, and the Children’s Hospital have activated internal incident management systems and are receiving and treat victims of this emergency.

First responders from Scott & White EMS have joined police/fire/sheriff’s office at the scene of the accident.

The hospital remains open and operating while the Emergency Department staff evaluate and treat arriving victims. As the Level 1 trauma center for the region, Scott & White Hospital – Temple is communicating and coordinating with emergency responders to provide care for victims. Currently, 14 children have been brought to the Scott & White Hospital – Temple Emergency Department, along with one adult. Two children have been brought to the Children’s Hospital Emergency Department, with six more in route to the hospital.

At this time, all elective surgeries and procedures at the Scott & White Temple Hospital continue to be performed on schedule. If that should change, we will make public announcements to the news media and with information on our website.
